On July 26, 1994, through the Johor Heritage Foundation, the Johor State Government supported the museum and declared the museum to be Malaysia&#8217;s first Bugis museum. South Sulawesi Governor of Indonesia Syahrul Yasin Limpo toured the museum in October 2016 and met local Bugis.
