Beach\nfront developments were abandoned due to stability problems, leaving many piles\nof sand 10 m to 20 m high, sitting idle on a vacuum soil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As\nfor the environmental impact, with mangrove forest fish nurseries removed, fish\nstocks diminished and are no longer financially viable. Reclaiming activities\nhave also deterred turtles from coming ashore to historical nesting grounds now\ntoo far inland to reach. Tanjung Bidara Turtle Sanctuary further north provides\nsome hope, but is this enough?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\nthere is one superficial silver lining to emerge from this debacle, a series of\npicturesque, pristine white sand dunes will be created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Piled\nup 10 to 20 meters high, this strange foreign landscape is situated at the end\nof the Klebang peninsula.
