2. Lau Ka Poh (Old Froggie) 老青蛙
This famous local food in Yong Peng Johor “Lau Ka Poh” is in Lian Hoe Kopitiam, a quite old style shop. The noodle stall boss Mr.Liu is known affectionately to Yong Peng townsfolk as Lau Ka Poh or Old Froggie. Here selling wanton mee, Fuzhou egg soup, fried Fuzhou mee, fried mihun, fried kuey tiaw and so on. The thick flat Fuzhou style noodles were infused with Lau Ka Poh’s unique savoury sweet sauce. The thick noodles were tenderly spongy outside but there was a slight resistance in the core which gave the noodles an interesting bite. Lau Ka Poh lets the noodles and sauce simmer a while in the hot wok so that the sauce gets absorbed by the noodles.
Moreover, there is also local Nanyang coffee and butter kaya toast in Lau Ka Poh, Yong Peng Johor. Try it !

3. Yong Peng Duck Noodles 永平鸭面
Famous local food in Yong Peng Johor also the duck noodles. The duck noodle stall was in a commonplace food court, that will make you second guess it’s food quality. But no worries! The Hokkien-style “Braised Duck” served here have thick herbal gravy. It left us no doubt that the soup was boiled from aplenty flavour some duck bones, created the broth-like consistency and is their signature dish. The braised duck has a strong aroma and is darker than the Teochew-style Braised Duck. The noodles sold here are made fresh by hand on site, and the owners take no shortcuts nor do they sacrifice quality for ease or speed. The duck is braised to perfection with just the right amount of herbs and spices and simmered over a medium low heat for hours, ensuring that the meat is soft enough to fall off the bone. After try it, I’m sure you will coming for more time!

4. Kedai Makan Ah Poh 永平戏院叻沙
One of the Malaysia timeless classic, kedai makan Ah Poh at Yong Peng Johor has been selling laksa for over 50 years. This unique laksa is local people’s favorite. Laksa at Ah Poh has strong coconut aroma as the broth is cooked from fresh coconut milk and other ingredients. They use only Fuzhou noodles and local mihun to serve their customers and this adds to the uniqueness of their laksa. The noodles served here are springy and have a good bite to them, and are perfectly paired with the spicy laksa broth. The spiciness of said broth can be tailored to suit your taste buds by adding the preferred amount of sambal, a thick chilli paste. What makes the customers like it is they can add curry powder that provided on every table according to their preference spiciness.
Additionally, Ah Poh was rated 5 stars by SinChew Newspaper for its cleanness, customer servies, food prices and food taste. A must visit place in Yong Peng Johor!

5. Maxim Snack Shoppe 大胡子面包小食
Local people of Yong Peng Johor like to having tea-time at noon. The Chinese name of the shop is literally translated as a big beard. This Maxim Snack Shoppe is actually a traditional coffee shop serve quite a lot of local snacks such as malay kueh, curry puff, fried taro cake, buns, siew pau, egg tarts, specialty roti bakar, ang gu kuih, freshly brewed coffee or tea. The beverages were brewed by no-other than Mr Big Beard himself.

Handmade fish ball is one of the famous food at Yong Peng Johor. Kim Kee restaurant made freshly fishball from wolf herring and it prides on producing flexible and juicy fish balls without adding any preservatives. The restaurant also serves Fuzhou fish balls containing tender pork. Kim Kee restaurant, Yong Peng Johor also serve several types of unique soy sauce noodles and laksa (which come in your choice of dry or in soup). For fish ball lovers who comes to Yong Peng Johor should not miss out Kim Kee restaurant!

7. Kedai Eng Hin 永兴福州饼面厂
We all know Yong Peng Johor famous for Fuzhou food because it have a large population of Fuzhou people. Eng Hin is traditional bakery or confectionery, serving authentic Fuzhou biscuits, bread, salted pancakes, and also freshly made noodles. They also have a well-known kom pia, a Fuzhou classic, and is a type of bread with filling, made by flour, sugar and lard, it is moulded into round shape and later topped with sesame seeds. Some are plain kompia and others have meat or peanuts filings.
The biscuits of Eng Hin Yong Peng Johor are bake freshly every day to ensure its softness and chewy taste. There are four flavours of the most popular Fuzhou biscuits: original, oat, peanut and sesame. The secret only known by the older people, that the perfect way of serving sesame Fuzhou biscuits is to dip them into the curry sauce! In addition, Eng Hin makes fresh fuzhou noodles as well. Since it has no preservatives added, the noodle is advised to be consumed within few days.

The char siew in particular has won over crowds all over, and for all of you that do not know what it is, it is pork belly seasoned with sweet soy sauce and spices and roasted to perfection.
