The Dato ‘ Jaafar Building ‘ was the first Johor Menteri Besar’s formal residence, Jaafar bin Muhammad’s late Dato. Built on 100 acres of property in Bukit Senyum, Johor Bahru, the building was constructed in 1893. The construction is at JKR 514 Jalan Yahya Al Datar Johor Bahru in Bukit Senyum. Dato ‘ Jaafar chosen Tanah Bukit Senyum and submitted the land to Sultan Abu Bakar. He smiled at a sign of consent. Dato ‘ Jaafar called this hill “Bukit Senyum” on his behalf. The region is one hundred acres. The building is currently surrounded by several structures and highways. Depot Polis, Vocational Schools, Dato ‘ Jaafar Secondary School, luxury condominiums in Astaka Padu are among them. The adjacent highways are Jalan Yahya Al Datar, Jalany, Jalan Tebrau, Jalan Stulang Darat and Deepway Highway, the primary gateway to the entrance to Malaysia-Singapore. This structure’s layout resembles the curvature of the English royal family building in the Derby or Derbyshire Colony, England, “Hardwick Hall” and “Mahligai Matlock.” It is a three-story high and has a turret in each of the building’s four corners.
