Malaysia Announced Proceed JB to Singapore RTS Project at Johor Bahru

The rapid transit system will have two stations, with the Singapore terminal located at Woodlands North MRT/RTS station and the Malaysia terminal located at Bukit Chagar RTS station. Both stations will have Singaporean and Malaysian customs, immigration and quarantine facilities.

The RTS Link is expected to replace the railway line and shuttle train services between JB Sentral and Woodlands Train Checkpoint.

However, this project have postponed for about several year due to some issue and the cost is quite high.

Currently, after a couple of years been postponed, Jb to Singapore RTS project will be proceed announced by the government on October 2019.

This project will start to proceed but with some changes in terms of project structure, scope and specification and cost. The cost need to be optimized especially for construction and rail systems in order to make sure the project more financially reliable.

The RTS will still serve up to 10,000 passengers per hour. It will be a system that is similar to the Light Rail Transit in Kuala Lumpur. However, this project will still need to be continues with good collaboration and approval from two country which are Singapore and Malaysia.
